Mardi Gras Conference 2009 Call for Submissions
Abstract

The 2009 Mardi Gras Conference will bring together individuals working in this
broad area in an attempt to foster information exchange, enable community
building and project future trends across the multitude of disciplines that
have engaged this technology. This event can be seen as a follow-on to the
Emory University workshop in February 2008 on “Virtual Worlds and New
Realities in Commerce, Politics, and Society.” The 2009 Mardi Gras
Conference will feature workshops on the various technologies, panels, posters
and papers in addition to several invited keynote speakers. We invite individuals working in the Virtual Worlds
area to submit their ideas for workshops, papers, panels, posters and in-world
events.
We welcome proposals that address any of the following domains:
- Educational Applications
- Visual & Performing Arts
- Business & Commerce
- Mass Communication
- Social Networks
- Preserving and Creating Cultural Assets
- Next Generation of Virtual Worlds
- Social, Economic, Legal & Political implications
- Computation & Cyberinfrastructure
- Government
- Medicine
- Science
- Virtual Organizations
Abstracts must be submitted no later than October 6, 2008.
Paper Submission:
We invite authors to submit original and unpublished work (also not submitted
elsewhere for review) reporting solid and innovative results and positions on
any of the conference topics. Papers should not exceed 10 single-spaced pages
of text using 10-point size type on 8.5 x 11 inch paper (see ACM author
instructions for style guide.) All bibliographical references, tables, and
figures must be included in these 10 pages. Submissions that exceed the 10-page
limit will not be reviewed. Authors should submit a PDF file that will print on
a PostScript printer. Electronic submission is required, to (http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=mg2009).
Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register
and present the paper if it is accepted.
Proceedings:
All submissions will be peer-reviewed, and accepted papers will appear in the
conference proceedings. The proceedings will be distributed on CD at the
conference.

Notification: November 15, 2008
Final Papers: January 9, 2009
